I love this time of year. I love the leaves, the crisp weather, and the smell of autumn in the air. Today is the Fall Equinox and I will not be attending any Mabon rituals. A requirement of the ADF dedicant program is to participate in all eight High Days that are the celebrations of the Neo-Pagan year. Although, I will do my own personal ritual, I will be holding off on gathering with others until Samhain. Maybe I will do this with other local druids ( I hope so!) or I will just go to the local CUUPS ritual. I’m doing this because I haven’t had my ADF materials for a solid week yet and I’d really like to perform any personal rituals in their liturgical form. Also, I just haven’t put any thought into this High Day until well…today! But Samhain was the Celtic New Year, so I think it is appropriate that I will begin my “official” celebrations at this time.
Currently, I am preparing to write my position on wisdom. I did not like my philosophy class in college so this will be an interesting assignment. I think this comes from my belief that ethics and values are so subjective and vary from culture to culture, individual to individual. Why discuss it? What value is there in debating differences that most likely aren’t going to be reconciled. But I think it is good that I am sitting down and deciding what wisdom, piety, etc. mean to me. I did a little google search on wisdom to kick-start my thinking process and I think I’m about ready to sit down and begin writing. I’m excited to write on this topic, but a bit nervous. This is no easy program.
